How do I get involved with Promise Keepers in my local area?
Promise Keepers is part of a worldwide movement of Almighty God upon the hearts of men and women. Below are a few suggestions on how to get involved in the ministry.
First, prayer is essential. You might ask God a few specific questions, like “what kind of person do you want me to be?” “Who are the people around me that will help me grow as a Christian?” “What price must I pay to be a man of integrity?”
Promise Keepers believes that a person must be in fellowship with other believers in order to grow. We strongly encourage you to get involved with your current church’s men’s ministry, or to begin men’s ministry activities. (See How can I start a men’s small group?)
Many congregations around the world have functioning, vibrant men’s ministry, and more churches are building men’s ministries all the time. If you are not involved with a church, get involved. Begin calling around. Both the referrals of friends and the yellow pages can get you started. You should be looking for a church that offers regular men’s gatherings, an annual men’s retreat, mentoring programs, regular work projects, small accountability groups, or any combination of the above.

Why is there not a conference in my city/region?
We realize that there is a disappointment when Promise Keepers does not return to your city or region after a previous event there. It is important to remember that many cities have never been given the opportunity to experience PK events firsthand, and for years men from these cities have loaded into buses to make the trek to the nearest Promise Keepers conference—often traveling for many hours. We would like to help you understand the reasons for Promise Keeper’s conference schedule this year.
There are several factors that affect which cities are chosen. Prayer is crucial in the site selection process. It covers the men and women involved in the decisions being made, as well as the cities being selected. Promise Keepers desires to hold conferences where God and the men are working together to create an environment of faith and reconciliation. Once certain cities are selected as feasible sites we begin working with venues to determine the dates and finances of hosting an event. Often dates are unavailable due to other activities, or the cost exceeds what we believe we can spend while maintaining our financial integrity.
We are excited for the way the Lord continues to use Promise Keepers in men’s lives across the country in different locations. We invite you to register and travel to one of the other conference cities nearest you this year. Road trips are a great way to build relationships with other men.

How can I help to bring a Promise Keepers event to my area?
What a privilege it is to be considered a worthy event for your community. The process for hosting a Promise Keepers men’s conference is many months long, and will involve many local clergy, and laypersons, as well as the business community. Below are the “phases” involved in bringing a Promise Keepers conference to reality. We hope this document is helpful.

Solicitation Phase:
As much as one year ahead of any target date for a conference, the solicitation process begins. Many factors are considered in the process of evaluating prospective cities for Promise Keepers conferences.
If your city has never hosted a Promise Keepers conference before, we suggest you begin by bringing together a group of interested men and women in a concentrated prayer effort to seek God’s will regarding a possible conference.
Promise Keepers desires to hold conferences where God, the men, and the local congregations are working together strategically to reach their communities for Christ. Promise Keepers welcomes city proposals.
Please include the following:
- Individual letters of invitation and endorsement from ministers in your area;
- Letters of interest from civic officials and Christian business leaders;
These letters should be “bundled” and sent together to Promise Keepers at the following address:
Promise Keepers
P.O. Box 11798
Denver, CO 80211-0798
The invitation package will be evaluated on the following criteria:
- Number of congregations whose pastors contribute;
- Ethnic, geographic, and denominational diversity represented in the package;
- Capacity of venues intended to host the conference.
Exploratory Phase:
Once the Invitation package is received, a staff person from Promise Keepers may visit your community for an “Exploratory Meeting” with local clergy. A representative of Promise Keepers’ Events Services Department will also schedule a site visit to evaluate the technical aspects of the venues under consideration.
Volunteer and Production Phase:
The entire volunteer recruitment process begins four to five months ahead of the conference date. Volunteer training is facilitated by national Promise Keepers staff. Volunteer management is initiated by the national staff and sustained by local volunteer leadership through the event itself.

What is a task force?
City-based task forces are usually composed of Pastors, Promise Keepers Ambassadors, and other lay leaders, working together to plan and promote men’s ministry and Promise Keepers events in their city. In both event cities and non-event cities, task forces are crucial in building networks and resources that help men keep their promises.
We encourage task forces to form their own identities, to help men catch the vision of what God is doing through men’s ministry in their communities and cities.

What is the status of the Ambassador Program?
Promise Keepers are represented around the country by Ambassadors, who promote men’s ministry and represent Promise Keepers to several churches in a given area. An Ambassador is a Godly man who is willing to work with a few churches in his area to serve and assist the local church, help resource the Men’s Ministry of their church, and help to connect with PK. If you have been an Ambassador in the past – we want you back! We’re ready to resource you like never before.
